I have had my QDX rev2 on the air since mid-January 2022 and have been quite pleased with its performance. I have made over 2000 FT8 contacts over that period with a Windows 10 computer and a Raspberry Pi in a few cases.
I have noted one minor issue which I cannot explain...on a random basis, but perhaps every 20 transmissions or so, the output power drops to 1 watt rather than the usual 5 watts. On the next transmit cycle, the power returns to 5 watts. I do not think that this is due to an intermittent connection somewhere in the system, but I suppose anything is possible. I am aware of this issue because I have a power meter in the antenna line and I am using a lab power supply that continuously monitors voltage and current. The current drops to about 200 mA when the QDX outputs 1 watt, but the voltage stays constant at 12.5 volts in my case.
Is this performance unique to my setup or has anyone else observed this behavior?
Thanks,
Ed, K0KC
