I had this problem,but trying the pcb into both housings from both directions I found one ?combination where the pcb just went in perfectly. I have even seen someone on here file down the offending IC !! Not on.

Attached picture shows my cut. Done with a cheap Dremel-like tool. About
30 minutes of cutting..
QDX now working although like some others I get some strange self-test
results.
