Re: UQRSS with WSPR (without/with GPS) and FSKCW3 (with GPS) on 30 M

Hello Hans,

Forgot to mention that a WSPR/QRSS tx kit for 500 Khz would be very nice.
Did some work on that band (also 136 KHz) and with 1 Watt could reach a 500-600 Km.
Did that with a simple 6 meter vertical with topload radials (6 x 1.2m) and a big coil with variometer.
Earthsystem is on the lightning system (home made).

This was with 5 Watts, 1 Watt was not copied perhaps noise or two stations Tx-ing at the same time and QRG or so.

But a bit later with 1 Watt (0.5 Watt mean power) with Opera OP4 mode:

21:37 500 PA0OCD de GW0EZY Op4 564 km -29 dB in Welshpool IO82HO with 0.5w + 6m

For Opera, depending on the band there can be another Opera mode....
The best mode is chosen for each band by the program !. Sometimes 2 modes are possible like Op8 and Op32 for 136 Khz.

Have seen with 0.2 Watt on 136 Khz 1 station, but think that 1 Watt would be fine. Perhaps a few BS170 parallel.

Hi Paul

PS: Would be nice to have 2 kits running on 30 M , one on QRSS/FSKCW and the other on WSPR in a time slot so they do not byte each other.

Perhaps something for V1.05 firmware upgrade to have running 2 or more kits, even switching antennas?....
There is already a v1.05, see

What I can do for v1.06, is to use one of the spare I/O pins (labelled
F0/F1/F2 on the connector) as an indicator of when the kit is
transmitting a frame. This signal could then be used to switch a
relay, to connect the kit output to the antenna. This way, you could
have multiple kits running different modes and even, different bands.
As long as the frames were set up so that they were transmitting at
different times, you could make this work quite well.
