Well - I bought two crystals for 14.132 for about ?1.80 delivered and I am going to have a go at penning one of them down. It may be a long shot, but in his article on the subject, Hans managed to get a 10 megs crystal down by 150khz. I only need about 40khz, so for a couple of quid, it is worth a try. I know someone with a lot of dremel stuff - fine wheels and such, so I will borrow that and cut the can off as neatly as possible, and have a go with overhead projector pens.
If it doesn't work, I will have learned something, and I can order a custom made one from Quartzlab for ?22. Philip G4JVF has one on order from them. They need a month's lead time to make a one off. It would still be worth it to get on 20 meters. There is a lot of WSPR going on there just now.
If you are not releasing a 20 meter version this week, I can adapt whatever you do release by changing the LPF values. Maybe I would need to alter the windings on the PA drain inductance? Do you think so? Perhaps a couple of winds less on there? I don't know, but can fiddle about and see.

Hi Tony,
Thanks for the nice words. You will be pleased to know as soon as i have
finished making up the new batch of kits I'll be testing the 20 meter one.
But we only have crystals for 14.000,000 Mhz. So the traditional frequency
for WSPR will not be attainable.
Presumably you are getting a crystal custom made?
