Re: Is this GPS suitable

Ok, I couldn't resist googling for the datasheet. See? ?.?

It does appear to say on page 7, that you would by default see a 100ms 1pps pulse on the grey wire, and an NMEA-0183 serial output at 4,800 baud by default on the white wire.?

That means this GPS module should be suitable. But there's no guarantee until someone actually makes it work ;-)

FYI I started writing a page with some GPS notes, see??. Over time I'll collect reports of people's successes with various GPS models and I'll add them to the table.

Hi Bob

On the face of it, it looks potentially suitable, because it does claim to have a 1pps output and a serial output supporting NMEA-0183 and the required $GPRMC sentence.

The question I would have, is whether the 1pps output and the serial output are in the right mode by DEFAULT when you buy the unit? Or do you have to program them to be that way? If the latter, 1) how would that be achieved and 2) would it remain programmed like that when the power is cycled? I think a datasheet would probably answer these questions... but there is no datasheet in the eBay listing and I haven't the time right now to hunt for one!?

Just my 2 cents
