Re: Solder temp for QCX Board

Clint Sharp

My iron should be around 370C but I don¡¯t panic about the exact number.?

What matters is the iron¡¯s ability to stay at the necessary ?temperature and deliver the power to the joint.?

Don¡¯t be tempted to wind up the heat if a particular joint is difficult, that leads to wrecked boards and components and as others have said, buy decent solder.

Good quality solder has enough flux in it to make any joint it is suitable for.?

If you need more flux than the solder contains ?to make a joint then you¡¯re not doing it right.?

If it¡¯s a new iron to you then definitely find a few things to practice on just to get a feel for the iron.?

I agree.

Get the genuine Kester solder - the Chinese solder is junk and should not be used for PCB work.
