I went ahead and gave it a try and it seems to be working fine just as you'd suggested it would.

Just for fun I looked at the ripple on the converter's output with my oscilloscope when it was powering the U3S both idle and when transmitting. ?I discovered there's FAR more noise coming from the U3S itself than from the converter. ?Nothing to worry about with that converter!

Now I want to add a second converter like you did to power the PA's separately with a slightly higher voltage.
