Quite possibly you have a couple of bad chips. There do seem to have been some bad ones in the last batch. Do you have an AVR programmer? If you send me an email off-list I can get a couple more chips sent to you.?

I just finished my QCX20 using firmware version 1.00e on a Rev 4 board.? I too have the dreaded top line boxes only display.? I have another unbuilt kit , so I tried using that PIC chip.? This time I get the message on power up:? "Use Original IC".....
I have a 1.00c chip that I removed from my QCX30 when I upgraded to version 1.00d.? Plugged it in my newly built kit, did a firmware reset, and reconfigured to 20 meters.? After doing the alignment steps, it seems to be working perfectly.? About 3.1 watts out and good CW sensitivity.??
Do I conclude I have 2 bad PICs??
