The wall thickness of such an adapter would be pretty thin.? Also when the Allen/setscrew is tightened down the split ring might have a tendency to open up and jam.? (Just my thinking.? Could be a non-problem)? At any rate the game plan here is to use a Dremel tool sanding drum set at slow speed and buff off the splines on the pot shaft enough that will allow ?¡± hobby brass tubing to slide down over the shaft. I intend to epoxy the tubing to the shaft.? This will give me a full ?¡± shaft for standard knobs.? (the shaft is several thousands larger than the inside dimension of the ?¡±brass tubing.

?

This whole thing might be a futile mental exercise if the enclosure Hans has come up with is reasonable in cost.? THAT sure would save a raft of work!!

About 6mm to 1/4" adapting, I have looked more than once for an split adapter sleeve without success, I would have thought such a thing would be available.
