¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDear fellow Members, Dear fellow Knights, ? I have been watching my Grabber like a hawk watches the Chicken Yard.?? Here are some observations I have made. ? CW signals with very short dits and dahs are very difficult to decipher.? Since our grabbers are mostly running 10 minute frames, It is probably best to run a dit rate of between 4 and 6 seconds.? That gives the Grabber operator a real chance to decipher your call and other information easily.?? The easiest mode to decipher is FSKCW using a bit rate of between 4 and 6 seconds and a shift between 5 and 7 Hz.? When the QRM sets in the grabber operator can look at both lines of your transmission to determine if the signal is shifted high or low.?? DFCW with low dit rates (less than 5) are near impossible to decipher in heavy QRM.?? I saw a FSKCW signal yesterday that looked like the dit rate was 1 or 2 seconds and the shift was 1 or 2 Hz, But It was very difficult to read.?? I realize that everyone is extremely over sensitive about transmitting on top of another station.? It is going to happen on New Year¡¯s Eve.?? What you may not realize that the propagation to different grabbers will help sort out the mess.? So, Just jump in.? If 10,000 stations all get on this New Year¡¯s Eve, There is no hope of everyone finding their OWN SPOT ON THE FREQUENCY.? (By the way, 10,000 is an estimate of how many QRSS transmitters that are out there but I don¡¯t think they are all OPERATIONAL).?? So, Check your settings and Hope for the best.?? The thing you will see, If everyone gets on, Is there is a bunch of folks that are having as much fun as you are! ? Operation for the New Year¡¯s Eve QRSS Operation is at 0000Z December 31,2017 and end 2400 January 1, 2018.?? I hope Everyone has a great time! ? 73 Dave Hassall WA5DJJ?
