Bending resistor leads takes time. Especially if you like consistency for the "little soldiers standing on the battlefield. That takes time. At least it did. It will take longer to type this post than it did for me to bend the leads on a dozen resistors
Here's how
My ruler has cork on the back to keep it from slipping so it's spaced up off the bench. I don't think that's a must have but it helps to hold everything steady

Step 1

Step 2 gently roll the lead assembly up. In the photo the ruler is pulled away from the leads. I normally leave it against the leads

Step 3 continue to gently roll the leads until they are flat on the ruler

This is what it looks like once the bending is over

Snip the ends off at the paper strip. Clip them one at a time to minimize the fliers
