The beacon function in QMX is very old, it originated in the Ultimate WSPR kit, which became Ultimate2, then Ultimate3, then (10 years ago) the Ultimate3S (a.k.a. U3S) see . This is how QRP Labs started. Later, the functionality was ported into the QCX, and eventually QMX.?
I suspect the problems are in my QMX firmware, not WSJT-X or WSPRnet.org or anything else.?
The issue with WSPR locator squares suddenly changing is on my list to investigate, and one of the developments?I want to make for QMX is a complete virtual U3S which can do everything U3S can do, and more. Band-hopping included, Ken.

I have had the same issue, with a QMX+ and QLG3 combination and have stopped using beacon mode because of it. The setup will typically behave well for a couple of hours before I start to see random JD38 spots and a much reduced total number of spots. A restart of the QMX+ immediately restores normal behaviour, which suggests to me that the problem lies with the transmission and not with the decoding/reporting system.
I didn't realise I could video the screen to record the encoded WSPR transmission - I will try and do that and report back on the results.
I am also in IO91. Is the problem unique to this square I wonder, or if others have experienced it?
