Re: Windows WSJT-X audio input level adjustment

Yes, there is the band config menu option.? I haven't had to use it.
The bands will vary greatly in % audio depending on activity and noise, so you shouldn't expect the same on all.? I get 40-60% on 20m with full activity, and it works great.

BUT while I was checking out settings, my QMX somehow is in a mode where the audio-out in Digi mode is not happening correctly.? Almost no audio. So I wonder if that is happening to you.?

So also try this that worked for me (temporarily until I find the problem):? Set your QMX to CW mode, and set the CW filter selection to 'off'.?? Suddenly that makes my audio appear at full volume via the QMX interface (and out the speaker).? You may want to tune 'high' for digi by the amount of your CW offset (for me that is 650Hz), e.g. 14.07465 to be centered.? I don't know if this is your problem, but it worked for me.??? I don't think I have a setting wrong, and the only difference between 'digi' and 'cw' is firmware, so maybe I need to do a factory reset to get the 'digi' functionality correct again.

I don't have access to my Operations Manual at this moment, but ...

In the band Configuration menu in Terminal mode (Putty connected) there is a parameter for relative audio output gain per band. It's right near the top of the listings. You can bump those values up to get more out into the WSJT-X program.?

Close WSJT-X
Open Putty, select Serial, change the COM port number to the current number assigned to the QMX+ and click Open.
A new Putty terminal window should open with only a cursor showing. Hit Enter on the PC. The main menu for the QMX+ should appear. You might need to press Enter twice.?
Choose Band Configuration.
Then ....

Use the arrow keys to move left or right to a band and up and down arrows to the individual line item listings.
For the 'gain' parameter you'll need to backspace over the current entry and then type in the new desired value. Use Control-Q to back out to the main menu listing and then select Exit Terminal. Then close the terminal window and restart WSJT-X.

Under different conditions of reception signal receive strength you might need to dial some back to reduce overload into say WSJT-X or FLDigi.

Hope this helps

GREG?

Hi All
I am new to QMX+ digi modes and need some guidance.
I have built a QMX+ that works like a charm, but I am struggling to get the audio input level in WSJT-X to 30dB, on some bands it is in th red at 6/7dB. I have the volume in the audio mixer at max and the master volume in Settings --> sounds set to 100. I am running windows version 10 and do not know what else to adjust. Is there another windows setting or do I need to alter somethin on the QMX+. Any advice would be welcome
?
Many thanks
