Re: Installing firmware on new QMX build

?I am going to g to throw this in again for those who haven’t seen it. ?It’s my choice for stripping magnet wire. ?Every builder should have one.

I still use a scalpel for initial scraping of the lacquer on magnet wire, but then use my trusty Knipex tool to guarantee I have it all cleaned off.

So far in my many years of kit building I haven’t had a bad connection on a toroid. ?That doesn’t mean I haven’t made other mistakes but for the toroid connections this tool is indispensable.

My QMX is now up and running on receive (anyway) and I’ve cycled through all the bands. ?Very loud signals coming in one 20m.
Excellent news.
?
Now the Tx.? If you are receiving well then T507, the LPFs, L401 and T401 are all connected reasonably well.
?
A bad connection to L502 or T501 could be why there is no Tx. Try checking continuity in this area, put your probes on the pads, not the wires so you check the solder join between pad and wire.
?
If you can, please do the Tx tests at a lower voltage.? This will reduce the power and so reduce the load on the PA stage, the BS170s and IC503.? 7 to 9 V should be fine and still give you a couple of Watts.
