Working in a test gear calibration and repair unit at the end of the 70s around half of the stream of ¡®modern more reliable¡¯ faulty transistor/IC units were ¡®repaired¡¯ by just tapping or reseating everything rather than replacing or adjusting anything. ?This was worse than the valve era gear ! ?
?Still down-time and labour cost and annoyed production line management meant the message got back to the makers pretty quick?
Not a great situation for production equipment .. ?
