Interesting, some good info in that post from Hans.
Though I'm quite sure I saw black blocks in the LCD, and that there was no solder joint problem.
It's possible I hadn't plugged the front panel fully in place, but I'm pretty sure I checked for that as it had bitten me before.
The black blocks disappeared once I added the 100k resistors so the firmware would think the SMPS's were getting up to the full expected voltage.

Still looking for a full description of the power up sequence, that would be handy.
Ideally this includes when any messages are printed to the LCD display, when it jumps from boot code to the installed firmware, when various USB services are available, what's happening with PWM_3V3 and PWM_5V and LIN_REG_EN, and typical current draw from the external power supply at each stage in the process.? Would be a big help in diagnosing various troubles reported to the forum
?
Finalizing the SSB firmware takes precedence, if only because Hans has his head full of SSB right now.? If he's like me he'll forget half the details when he steps away from it, needing a day or two of getting familiar with it again before making further progress.

Look for bad solder joints between the main board and the LCD.
