Below is a sneak peak and teaser of what is coming with version 2 of the solution. I am still at early stages of testing. The PCB on the left is a crown jewel - it has 100% smd components, circuits that allow on-PCB programing for PIC (left edge of a PCB). Pins arranged such a way that pickit directly plugs over there.

On the left side of the left PCB (sorry for the tautology) - ICSP connector to upload the ATMEGA boot loader and FTDI header to upload sketches after boot loader is in place.

BTW, programing for both chips work!
