Re: #qmx #qmx+ #firmware version 1_00_023 release #qmx #firmware

Kwvin, in regard to your garbled display problem, Hans previously indicated for someone with a similar problem, I'm paraphrasing his previous statement pm this topic:

If your QMX or QMX+ has a proper display on version 19 but a garbled?display on version 20 and beyond, this categorically means that you have a connection fault on one of the D0, D1, D2, D3 signals between the microcontroller and the LCD. It's a hardware fault with your QMX or QMX+. A connection fault means short to ground, short to an adjacent signal, dry solder joint (no connection), poorly aligned connector between boards, etc.?

The reason for the change in 20 is that the display is now written in 8-bit mode, requiring all 8 data line signals between microcontroller and LCD. All previous firmware versions and all other QRP Labs kits use 4-bit mode. But 8-bit mode writes data twice as fast as 4-bit mode.?

Hi everyone.
My QMX is a Rev4 from late May 2024. I just upgraded from firmware _19 to _23 and the QMX acts as though the language has changed on the display. The language is not recognizable to me, nor is it consistent. For example, the "w" in CW is distorted, when I hold the menu button it displays something like Aufio io, but not always. Sometimes it says something more like Aufioao. Most of the menus just look like gibberish with many "v"s in the words. The A and B for the VFOs are garbled. It seems only the numeric digits are ok.?
So, I tried _22 and got the same thing, as well as _21. I was able to install _19 again and it seems to be back to normal.
Has anyone else seen this or have any ideas as to why it's doing this?
?
Thanks!
