As I was having fun again with my qmx today. I rarely use cw decoder as it is not very accurate (or I just don't know how to set it up properly and run defaults) - does the decoder "know" the incoming transmission speed? Since we should transmit our cw code with the same speed as remote station does, it could be helpful if qmx displayed it on the screen (in wpm)... Maybe instead of decoded text (heh, another entry in the setup :P)
Yes, the decoder knows the incoming transmission speed and tracks it gradually via an exponential moving average. It could indeed be displayed. There are various things that could be displayed, alongside the decoded CW. Of course, the more things like that you display, the less space you have for the decoded text...?
