Re: QMX Message Repeat #qmx #messages

Interesting - I can't comment on the message behavior of your rig, but I have message 1 and message 2 populated and set to an interval 4 seconds, repeat 0 (ie infinite until button 2 pressed). Upgrading from FW 19 to FW 20 didn't change anything and both versions worked perfectly for multiple POTA activation sessions.?

Sandy KB3EOF (PS initiating the message with a long then short single press of the right knob does make it send only once. Pressing button 1 after the long knob makes it go infinite until told to stop as usual.)

This QMX (mini) kit was assembled in March 2024 and loaded with 1.00_018 firmware. A 21 character CQ POTA related text was entered into Message 1 with additional settings of Interval 5 and Repeat 2 in the Message Menu. These settings resulted in the successful transmission of the complete message, a 5 second wait, a second transmission of the message, then return to a receive state. This feature was used repeatedly during a recent POTA activation.

After loading firmware 1.00_020 today the existing Message 1 text, Interval 5, and Repeat 2 settings were still present; however when initialed, Message 1 transmitted only once with no repeat. The "M" on the display is present only during the single message transmission then extinguishes. The Interval and Repeat settings were changed and power cycled but there is still only the single transmission of the message. These settings were restored to the original 5 and 2 respectively, power cycled, and again only a single message transmission is generated.

Reverted this QMX back to firmware 1.00_018 and confirmed that the original Message 1, Interval 5, and Repeat 2 settings were still present. Unfortunately the message is transmitted only once in spite of the delay timing and repeat settings.

Reinstalled the latest 1.00_020 firmware update and retested. The result is the same single message transmission. A Factory Reset was completed, a message was entered along with delay timing and repeat settings, but again only a single message is transmitted.

A big sister QMX+ kit was completed two weeks ago and initially loaded with 1.00_019 firmware but never had any Messages entered. After noting the issue with the above QMX, this QMX+ was updated today with 1.00_020 firmware and a "TEST" text entered as Message 1 along with Interval 5 and Repeat 2 settings. The QMX+ also exhibits the same limited single Message 1 transmission condition.

Please let me know if I am missing something. Otherwise I will consider this new message limitation as a nuisance "bug".
