QMX+ build underway after speedy TNT / FedEx delivery to UK. ?The optional case really is meaty and consequently the package weight surprised me.
A really nice kit with only a mislaid capacitor and a reluctant microphone to hamper me. ?I struggled to get the mic pins into the holes after it took a detour onto the floor for a few hours¡ and some gentle coaxing to be installed.?
Compared to the QMX, the layout is relaxed and spacious. ?Meaning I could take a break from winding torroids and pull other areas together.?
Mechanically the encoders and display placements feel much more robust than in the QMX.?
One support screw for the dev board snagged the case as I slid in the pcb. ?Not an issue for now and I¡¯m sure this can be readily resolved.
I want to say a big thank you to Mr Summers for creating such lovely kits and sharing his expertise with us. ?The build process is a joy and has already given me lots of enjoyment.
Just a few more torroids to wind, then I get to play radio without the hot soldering iron smell!
