Pins 3 (TIP_SW) and 4 (RING_SW) allow detecting whether a plug is inside the receptacle. When empty, pin 3 is shorted to pin 2 while pin 4 is shorted to pin 5. Pin 1 is not connected to anything. When a plug is inserted, pin 3 and 4 are not connected to anything and pins 2, 5 and 1 are connected to T, R and S of the plug, respectively.
I'm not sure if that answers your question entirely, but hopefully it helps.

I'm thinking of putting a small class D audio amp and tiny speaker/s in my build when I get that far (along with battery/charger and possibly ATU)
It looks as though I can pick the audio up from JP301 pins 3&4 which are labelled as switched so hopefully are the connections that get broken away when an audio jack is inserted into the earphone socket. Can anyone confirm that thats correct?
Thanks
Steve
