P.S. for issue #2: the minimum audio signal level to let fldigi at least show anything in the waterfall seems to be -50 dB. If you can tweak your AGC settings to ensure -30 dB signal level at the input to fldigi, it should probably work. Yesterday I was listening to II3GM calling CQ on 40 meters with AGC off, but it still could not get a reasonably consistent reception. What fldigi detected was mostly nonsense although the short transmissions were obviously CQ calls DE II3GM (the best I could see was "II?GM" and only later I verified in DX cluster who it was).?
