Re: FT8CN and QMX (1_00_017) #firmware #qmx

Hey OM Frank;

Yep same settings which I believe, off hand, are defaults.

Um, I did mess about some more; first because the audio chain in the new android tablet has additional audio controls and levels v/v my android phone, and second due to my having to find them, then enable them, and then set another "volume control" !

I also played a bit with the usual silliness of having a "power only" version of the usb cabling....muy hi hi.

Finally I played around a bit with various Kenwood radio selections in the ft8cn app. I was able to use more than one, so I think that isn't too critical. Also the VOX on the QMX **may** not be necessary either. YMMV

*** More to the point; the version 017 manual has terrific info on what the QMX needs and Hans has a well written discourse on troubleshooting digital hookups on page 63. I have found this "on-the-display" diagnostic, along with the SWR and PWR output displays to be both necessary and handy to have.

I'm sure you will eventually "grok" all of this and get your rig interfaced.

P.S. And to the "other fellow" herein who said 017-QMX and FT8CN doesn't/can't work (or whatever...). Yeah, I agree, and all of the QSO's in my log are my imagination !

Thanks Bob!

It was exactly your 4 instructions I was following. Vox for QMX, CAT in FT8CN. But still, no transmit.
I used the latest firmware with default settings, to ensure that I used "reset to factory settings ".
Thus, I suspect there are other settings in your QMX that differ from the defaults. And it would be very helpful to know what these are.

These are likely candidates, maybe? Could you tell us about your settings in:
Rise threshold 80
Fall threshold 60
Min cycles 1
Min samples 480
Discard samples 1
CAT timeout ENABLED

Thanks very much in advance!
