Yes, I agree. That is what happens when the low end of the pot is not grounded. I really think this part needs to be checked. If that's not it?you might check resistances around the leads of IC10. Look for 120K between pins 6 and 7 and zero ohms between pins 1 and 2. If either of these is open, you will have excessive gain in that stage. 73 ...
