The object of the SWR meter is to give an indication of the match of the antenna to the radio, to help to protect the PA from damage. It isn't a precision instrument, referenced to NIST standards.? What we have is plenty good enough to help to protect the PA and help users tune antennas.
If you really want better, do the necessary experiments, using properly calibrated instruments and standards of course, and come up with a calibration algorithm that can be added to the current code.
I'm really glad that Hans has got the SWR working including protection but I'm sure he has better things to do now.
