I use a quarter wave vertical for portable use. No tuner required. SWR is always low.
The setup takes 10 minutes to deploy when the ducks are lined up.
Chameleon 17' stainless telescoping whip mounted on a truckers mirror mount attached to a hardwood or rebar steel stake about 2' long driven into the ground. For daytime use, 20 meters and above I use 16 _ 16' ground radials.
It's quick, easy to manage and transport and the 4/y vertical is high performance.
I have used many different wire antennas for portable use. The 4/y vertical is the winner. KE4LJH
