I think I'd do that.? If it's running that hot, it's pulling too much current for some reason.
Before doing so, I'd have a very close look at your solder work, assuming you added pins.? One thing that messed me up (or almost did!) was the diagram of top and bottom pin outs.? I used the 90 degree pins and the logical way to view the board is from the top, which puts the top pads and pins furthest out.? However, the instruction guide has the pin outs labeled with the top pads denoted inside of the notations for the bottom pads.? I can't tell you how many times I had to flip it around in my head while soldering a proto board together!
