I do feel a 5W zener upgrade will solve the "problem". And most likely an easier modification than what?you are proposing. Also to point out, in the same paragraph you said you were too coward, you said you like risk (no risk, no fun)... therefore I'm sure you have it in you OM!?

I am on batteries. Either NiMH or LiPos. Because of me being penny wise and QRP being a state of the mind, I never manage to get new batteries or a reliable pack. Do not tell me this is high risk and LiPos are dangerous to play with this way. I know, but no risk, no fun. I am doing this since several decades and I am still alive, even after having seen some battery packs sky-rocketing southbound. What I am afraid now is damaging the rig. So I will go for sure and inhibit for the time being the handover from the? linear regulator to the buck converter, even if this seems to be unfair towards Hans: he has done such a beautifull and interesting development. I am with him, but too coward to risk damaging the main and only professor hanging on that frail 3.3V rail. No need for a software solution to inhibit handover, even if it would seem practical.
I am really sorry for the time being, but I am confindent that Hans and the group will find? soon a better solution: come time, come wisdom.
