The annual QMN picnic and meeting was a huge success. Special thanks to Larry WB8R who secured the use of the Branch County Memorial airport terminal building for our meeting. The space was new, clean, large enough for our group, warm, and sunny. What a beautiful day to travel and be together.
Present at the meeting were - in no particular order: Larry WB8R, Jim WV0SS, Mike W8MAL, Jeff KN8CR, Mike WB8DTT (and XYL), Tom KE8PAG, John KB8PGW, Stan K8SB (and Ruth WB8AFO), Tom W8MK, John W8QZ (with co-pilot Tom N8DGD). We missed seeing regulars John K8LJG and Mark K8ED and hope they can make the journey next year. Of course, all are welcome and we'd love to reunite and/or meet you for the first time.
I support holding the picnic / meeting in Coldwater again next year, unless there are any objections.
The main take-away from the meeting is the need for volunteers for
- net control stations for early and late nets
- liaison stations to take traffic to and/or from the Eighth Region Net (8RN) or the Digital Traffic Network (DTN)
- early session net manager
Net control volunteers
- contact Tom W8MK (early session) or Stan K8SB (late session) to coordinate which night(s) are best for you. I am looking for a volunteer for the Tuesday early net. Stan would really like a volunteer for the Wednesday late net.
Eighth Region Net
- contact Mark K8ED to coordinate which night(s) are best for you to go to 8RN early (7:45pm LT) or 8RN late (9:30pm LT)
Digital Traffic Network (DTN)
- contact John KB8PGW to coordinate which days are best for you to be the DTN rep. Contact John to learn how what equipment and software are required to connect to DTN
Early session net manager
- contact Tom W8MK if you are interested in receiving early net reports from the net control stations and updating the online (Google) tracking spreadsheet
See you on QMN!
Tom W8MK
