Since I had mentioned that I had erected a BuddiHex this week at my stepson's "Summer" home I thought I would send a few photos. And earlier today I put a 40m tripod mounted dipole up as well. See the photos... Also a photo of the station. Lp - KI5UXC

2025 Winter Field Day
Winter Field Day is coming up on January 25/26 and if you live in the DFW area and would like to find a location where you can participate, please join the Lake Area Amateur Radio Klub (K5LRK) in The Colony, TX. We will set up Saturday morning and will only be operating until about 5pm. We do not operate after 5pm on Saturday or on Sunday. Our club will be operating from a City Park (Lions Club Park) in The Colony at 4800 Nash Drive, The Colony, TX. Again, all are welcome to join us if you want to brave the elements. Please bring your own headphones and if you are a CW operator, you may want to bring your own paddle. The club provides a hot lunch for all in attendance but I believe this is also the same day our QCWA group meets in Plano for our monthly lunch. Swing by for a visit after the QCWA lunch. Also, I know the Metrocrest Amateur Radio Society (a.k.a. the Carrollton Club) will be operating from First Baptist Church of Farmer's Branch located at 13017 William Dodson Parkway, Farmer's Branch. I believe this club will operate continuously for 24 hours which will take them to about 1pm on Sunday. They are also open to visitors coming by to just view the operation and/or to operate. More info is available on their web site at www.kb5a.org 73, Tom - K5LOL President, Lake Area Amateur Radio Klub k5lol@... www.k5lrk.com

QCWA Chapter 41 Net Attendance for 02/05/2025
Good Morning QCWA41 Net Controllers, The QCWA related Net spreadsheet has been attached. The list shows that Mason Sarles, K5YHX had 18 attendees this morning on January 5th. Jim Popelarski, W5WN, Jerry Sams, N5KNU, and Foster Rich, K5EUZ, all assisted in helping out with some of the distant Western United States locations ¨C Primarily California, Arizona, and New Mexico. The normal Sunday QCWA41 7:00 AM net caller sequence is Carl Solomon followed by Jim Popelarski followed by Jerry Sams followed by Mason Sarles. Jerry Sams, N5KNU, has offered to join the regular callers list and we are grateful to have him. Jerry does a great job as a net controller and we are lucky to add him to our net controller list. Jay Urish, W5GM, has also volunteered to be one of the QCWA41 net controllers. He would do a good job and could probably be heard by almost everyone. I believe Mason Sarles, Foster Rich and I would be willing to assist Jay if he needed some help with some of the distant stations. I can hear almost all of the California, Arizona and New Mexico stations using the Reno SDR repeater. Mason had one Guest check in who had only a General Class License and was therefore not eligible to check in on the 3835 MHz frequency that we use every Sunday morning at 7:00 AM. An Advanced Class or an Extra Class license is required at the frequency we use every Sunday morning. Please look at the QCWA Net List Attendee Count I attached above and you will see that we have a number of users that have not checked in for quite some time. I believe we should make an effort to contact these users and see if they intend to begin checking in on a regular basis. If they do not we should let them know that they will be eliminated from our list of current users. Each of the QCWA41 Sunday net callers should make this announcement every week as soon as you start the net. Your faithful servant, Mont O¡¯Leary ¨C k0ycn@...

QCWA Chapter 41 Attendee report for 12/08/2024
Good Morning Gentlemen, The QCWA related Net spreadsheet has been attached. The list shows that Mason Sarles, K5YHX, had 14 attendees this morning on December 8th. I intend to no longer work as one of the net controllers. By the time I eliminated all of the power output above 100 watts from my Icon PW1 Amplifiers some people could barely hear me but many of them could not hear me at all. --Jay Urish W5GM will be net control on the 15th.

Your offer to call the QCWA net 3
Sure Carl! On this upcoming net, I plan on "polling the audience" to gauge signal strength from my QTH. I am not sure who NCS will be, but I will get them to check me in first and then get folks to report how well they hear me. jay- On 12/4/24 09:47, C Solomon wrote:

Good Morning Gentlemen, The QCWA related Net spreadsheet has been attached. The list shows that Jerry Sams, N5KNU, had 13 attendees this morning on December 1st. I really appreciate Mason Sarles and his thoughtfulness in taking my place as a net controller since I really do not have any way to put out up to 1000 watts I as I have for many years using my Icom PW1 Amplifiers. Having said above I am hereby telling you that I intend to no longer work as one of the net controllers. Good Morning Gentlemen, The QCWA related Net spreadsheet has been attached. The list shows that Carl Solomon had 14 attendees this morning on November 10th. Since his location in far western Oklahoma and his fine antenna system and strong transmitters and receivers assure that he is able to hear everyone and all of the attendees can hear him. I really appreciate his thoughtfulness in taking my place as the net controller since I really do not have any way to put out up to 1000 watts I as I have for years using my Icom PW1 Amplifier. Mason Sarles had a total of 14 attendees and I have attached a PDF which has the name, call sign, location and some other information on each attendee. Mason did a superb job of calling the net this morning. He can reach essentially all of our members from his QTH in the far western extent of Oklahoma both receiving and transmitting. Please note that I have moved the two relatively new users, Donald Norton, KB7USA, who resides in Kingman, AZ and Jeff Salmons, N5ECP, who also resides in Kingman, AZ to near the top of our list. The QCWA41 folder you created is a much better place for the PDF to go every week. Please insert this note when you insert the note in the QCWA41 folder.
