QCWA / WA5CMI Luncheon - February 22, 2025
?
Meeting Notes
?
Joint QCWA, Dallas Chapter 41 / WA5CMI Luncheon
Southern Recipes Grill, Plano, TX 11:00 AM
February 22, 2025 ?
The QCWA luncheon with the WA5CMI AM operators group was a huge success. We had 11 attendees (list below). There were attendees that were members or participated in either one or both groups in attendance. Jim (W5WN) called a short meeting of Chapter 41. Everyone was welcomed and an introduction to QCWA was provided for those that had no previous knowledge or contact with the Association.
?
The structure of QCWA, it's local chapters and privileges and benefits of membership was explained. Val, (W5PUT) provided details of the limited full trial membership being offered by the national organization for just $3.00. Questions were answered about QCWA national offerings including access to a wealth of historical information, membership journals, certificates recognizing years licensed, QCWA merchandise and the opportunity for full members to recommend recipients for scholarships up to $3,000.00.
?
Jim informed the group that there were officer positions open in the chapter for those interested. Input was solicited as to what programs would be desirable for the chapter to undertake such as a Widows Assistance Program, RFI Committee or possibly and Elmer Program. Val presented a roster from 2015 for everyone to view. It was interesting to see the name and callsign of past members, those still active and those that we regrettably lost as a silent key.
?
When the meeting concluded everyone enjoyed a delicious meal and fellowship. Those present were:
?
Jim - W5WN
Val - W5PUT David - WB5KXA John - K5BOI Monty - KA5X George - W5GRD Bob - KE5JL Grant - W5XJ Carl - W5SU Robert - WW9W Walt - W8KSW ?
All were thanked for attending and reminded that there will be a luncheon every 4th Saturday of the month. A reminder and details will be provided on groups.io/QCWA41. |

Re: QCWA Sunday Net NCS Script
Ok, first I know I'm a bad operator, you don't have to tell me, again! I'm going to stick with my list of the usual cast of characters. Then I'll pick up stragglers I missed. It's just easier for me in my simple mind. 73, Mason K5yhx On Sun, Feb 16, 2025 at 10:51?AM Jay Urish - W5GM via <jay=[email protected]> wrote: Hey everyone, |

2025 Winter Field Day
Winter Field Day is coming up on January 25/26 and if you live in the DFW area and would like to find a location where you can participate, please join the Lake Area Amateur Radio Klub (K5LRK) in The Colony, TX.? We will set up Saturday morning and will only be operating until about 5pm.? We do not operate after 5pm on Saturday or on Sunday.? Our club will be operating from a City Park (Lions Club Park) in The Colony at 4800 Nash Drive, The Colony, TX.? Again, all are welcome to join us if you want to brave the elements.? Please bring your own headphones and if you are a CW operator, you may want to bring your own paddle.? The club provides a hot lunch for all in attendance but I believe this is also the same day our QCWA group meets in Plano for our monthly lunch.? Swing by for a visit after the QCWA lunch.
?
Also, I know the Metrocrest Amateur Radio Society (a.k.a. the Carrollton Club) will be operating from First Baptist Church of Farmer's Branch located at 13017 William Dodson Parkway, Farmer's Branch.? I believe this club will operate continuously for 24 hours which will take them to about 1pm on Sunday.? They are also open to visitors coming by to just view the operation and/or to operate.? More info is available on their web site at
