Hi Guys,

When I was in high school in the late 70s, I left my window open a crack for my RG-58/U cable to run from my bedroom to our backyard dipole. I was using my Drake R-4B/T-4XB at about 120 watts PEP.

Fast forward to today. I am finally setting up my shack after an embarrassingly long hiatus. But I would like to run cable out the window or through the wall from my home office/shack to the side yard.
?
I could close the sliding window on a small piece of plywood with connectors on both sides. Or I could go through the wall near the ground and have connectors on both sides.

How do you guys run cable outside? I may want to use higher power than the RG-58/U is suited for. Something like RG-8U or LMR-400.
?
Thank you guys.

Re: Local Suppliers of Ham Radio, Accessories, Instrumentation, PS, Parts, etc.

An addition to the list:

Battery Giant & Electronics, located in Gilbert, is another retail storefront serving our community of hobbyists and provides batteries, chargers, power supplies, electronic Components, tools, as well as sales and service of Riding Toys, Electric Scooters, and E-bikes.? ? Their online store appears to be very comprehensive.

Thanks to Dick, K2LCT, for the recommendation.

Here's the updated APRS.fi map link to the storefronts:

Sometimes you need something for a project quickly or maybe you are putting together a parts kit for a future project. Ham fests are a good source of parts, but a brick and mortar experience can be fun.

Mapped via APRS .....

IFC Radios & Safety - San Tan Valley - (Some handhelds and basic accessories - CALL FOR INFO RECOMMENDED)

Tri-Tek Electronics - Mesa - (Parts, electronic kits, tools, etc.)

Circuit Specialists - Tempe - (Parts, electronic kits, tools, etc.)

Re: Running cable outside from my shack

I use a piece of 2x2 rather than plywood, it requires longer barrel connectors, but it provides a better seal.

Local Ham Needs some Assistance with Info

A local ham has a request for assistance...If you can help, reach out to him directly at "vince AT KN6TZA.org:

Hello,

I'm in the process of buying property in Queen Creek. Installing my ham radio tower would be part of the deal, which is one of the main reasons I want to get a more considerable lot for personal use.

I've been trying to get some help from development services in both the city of Queen Creek and Pinal County, with limited results.

I was wondering if somebody in your radio club has experience with this, so I can get a pointer in the right direction.

I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you
