QCECG Meeting Tonight

 

At the QCECG meeting Thursday evening (tonight), there will be two main agenda items to cover:

1. Joe, N2QOJ, will be presenting and demonstrating WebSDR. A timely topic given the state of the world.

2. We will be reviewing the Town's (quickly) upcoming Spring into Queen Creek event on Saturday, March 26th that QCECG will be supporting. We'll review the venue, the requested support, etc.

Where: Queen Creek Library Annex, Zane Grey Community Room, 21802 South Ellsworth Road, Queen Creek, AZ 85142,

When: Thursday, 3/10/2022, at 7 PM

Talk-In: QC Repeater, 449.475 MHz (-) Tone Encode 136.5 Hz

We Need To Support This Event On March 26th!

 

Hello QCECG Members (and friends of QCECG),

We have received a request from our Emergency Manager and the?Recreation Services?Division for volunteer assistance with at Mansel Carter Oasis Park on?Saturday, March 26, 2022.

Another great training opportunity!

Event time is 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

QCECG volunteers will be needed from?8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Here is a link to the??event page on the Town's website.

Recreation will be utilizing 3 shuttles for this event for the first time.? The shuttles will be traveling between Mansel Carter Oasis Park (event site) and the Queen Creek Library (overflow parking lot).
  • Shuttle 1 & 2: 8:15 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
  • Shuttle 3: 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
There are two paved parking areas at the park.? One to the north and one to the south of the park.? It sounds like Recreation is going to close the?south parking lot for the event and just use it for volunteer and?vendor?parking.

At this time, the following lists the tentative assignments and number of QCECG volunteers needed.

QCECG Volunteer roles:
  • Two or Three (2-3) QCECG members?will be needed?as net control.? We can set up in the overflow parking lot at Mansel Carter Oasis Park like we have in the past.
  • Three (3) QCECG members ride?shuttles to assist with status updates and provide event information to citizens.
  • Two (2) QCECG members at the north paved parking lot to assist citizens with?parking directions and assess space availability.? Possibly add two (2) CERT members here.
  • Two (2) QCECG members at the Queen Creek Library overflow parking lot to assist citizens with loading/unloading shuttles.? May be able to add one (1) QC CERT member here and reduce to one (1) QCECG member.
  • One (1) QCECG member or one (1) QC CERT member to assist citizens?with crossing from onsite overflow parking lot?to?park.
  • Two or four (2-4) QC CERT members at the onsite?overflow parking lot to assist citizens with parking directions.? This will depend on QCPD's parking plan

Event Details

2.?Queen Creek?Fire and Medical Department or Recreation will provide?a pop-up, table, chairs (2), and an ice cooler with water at the net control station at the onsite overflow parking lot adjacent to the entrance to the lot.

3. Queen Creek?Fire and Medical Department or Recreation will provide?a pop-up, table, chairs (2), and an ice cooler with water at the Queen Creek Library overflow parking lot adjacent to the entrance to the lot.

4. Request that QCECG volunteers please bring a sports/camp chair and sunscreen.

5.?Recreation?will provide a map and a "script" with all of the events and information that we may need to answer for the public.

6. We will have a Parks Division Point of Contact provided to us by Joe LaFortune.

Bottom line - we need at least 17 volunteers for this event. As always, if you know of a licensed ham who would like some experience in emcomm training, they are welcome to submit their request to volunteer.

Ocotillo Repeater (STV Repeater) 449.325 MHz PL 100.0 Hz
This net had been originally created and organized by Landon, AI7HE.
The purpose is to promote amateur radio to youth, encourage other youth operators to check in especially those that are not that active or are afraid to push that PTT, share ideas with hams young and old, improve on the air etiquette, and to have fun at the same time. The target is youth but ALL licensed operators regardless of skill level and age are invited to check in.
This net meets every Sunday at 6:15PM Arizona time, 1815 hours. To participate in this net, you may access directly on this repeater or via EchoLink at N2QOJ-R, also known as Node 185734.
For the duration of the net, this repeater's EchoLink node will be connected to the "YACHT" EchoLink Conference - Young Amateur Communications Ham Team, *YACHT" node 9544283.

UHF male (PL259) connector. Nickel-plated body with a tapered silver-plated center brass tip. Also, has the Bakelite Dielectric insulator that will NOT melt with heat applied when soldering. Connector is 1.56" long with a .72" dia. A nice high-end connector for use on RG8, RG213, RG214, etc. size coaxial cables approx. .199" to .432" outer diameter. RG8 and RG213 have the same OD: .405". Nevermind.? I hear the noise on the frequency now.? I've been talking on the MARCA repeater with some hams in the Chandler hams group (443.050) and it is thought that this may be a DMR repeater transmitting a digital signal.? I personally don't know but I do hear it.??
