Locked QST QST - Another Tech License Class Opportunity

The Scottsdale Amateur Radio Club is hosting a 2-day Technician License Class on November 16th and 23rd, 2024 in downtown Phoenix, near Central and Osborn area.

We just completed a 2-day class in May and had a fantastic turnout of 40 students, and 39 students passed the test.

Do you know any family members, friends or neighbors that wants to get their ham radio license and be prepared in the event of an emergency, like if our communication grid goes out or is ever attacked?

If you have any friends or family that might be interested here is the sign-up link.

If you are studying for General or Extra class license, we will also make testing available to you. This is a FREE class and tests. After you sign up, respond to the email that you will be taking an upgrade test, and which class you are testing for.

Sign up on our website at .? The class is free as well as the testing. You will be required to buy the Gordon West 2024-2026 Technician License Manual. Copies are available locally at Ham Radio Outlet in Phoenix and on Amazon. Once signed up, we will send you more information.

Seats are limited so don't delay signing up. ? No walk-ins will be allowed and pre-study is important.

If you choose to take this step, welcome to the coolest and most useful hobby of your life!

Next Radios @ Home event...

The last Radios @ Home event for the 2024 summer season is this coming Saturday, September 21st, from 10:00 to at least 12:00. We use a frequency of 146.460 with a PL tone of 77.0Hz and operate off-grid to test our abilities to stay radio-active even under less than optimum conditions. And it's just plain fun to talk station to station and antenna to antenna! So remember to join us on Saturday, September 21st at 10:00 hours on 146.460 and give a shout for "anyone participating in Radios @ Home". And remember, Radios Under Sun Shade is just around the corner (October 19).
?
Take care and stay safe and well!

Re: Radios for Sale

Folks,
?
The prices on the items are from an old post.? The ham selling may not be familiar with current new model pricing and therefor his sale pricing may be a bit off.
?
If you're interested, contact Randy directly and dialogue.? He will be receptive.
?
Thanks,
?

Re: Family Emergency Communications Plan

I enjoyed the insight that was shared on last nights net as well as the document Joe shared about Family Emergency Communications plans. I have attached below the template I built for our family to carry with them that also includes a PACE breakdown (Primary, Alternate, Contingent and Emergency) on the left side for communications and for meet up points on the right side.? I also included our larger PACE plan for multiple emergency areas of focus.? Would love to hear feedback on things I may have missed or need to think through more thoroughly.? Thanks in advance for your input and ideas.
