The Radios At Home event on Saturday, August 19th had a good turnout. We got to talk to one of the participants grandchildren and we also talked to a group traveling out for a weekend excursion. We learned that antennas without guylines swing in the wind which can have a distinct effect on both reception and transmission, and it appears that Diamond X50 antennas are great general-purpose dual-band antennas with a bit of a bias toward the UHF. We also saw a good example of why a PL tone might be used for simplex communications under certain circumstances. A log is now available online so that people can see who participated. My contacts are the only ones that have been logged so far.? If you participated and would like to send me your contacts, please email them to me at KI7PPW(at)ARRL.NET. You can get to the logs from my QRZ.com page or from the queencreekarc.org web page (thanks, Joe N2QOJ).
