Saturday, August 21st, is the next "Radios At Home!"

Happy Friday Everyone!

Tomorrow morning, Saturday, August 21st, is the next "Radios At Home!"
It will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m..

We will be monitoring TWO frequencies in order to give more operators the chance to make contacts on the air. We will plan on using 146.460 with a 77.0 Hz tone encoded (as has been historically used for this event.) In addition, we will also try to use 446.000 (which also happens to be the 70 cm National Calling Frequency.) No tone will be required on that frequency. True dual-band radios should be able to monitor both frequencies at once. Two radios, of course, will do the trick as well.

The function is the same as ...the whole point is to get on the air. But instead of going out into the sweltering heat, we will get to operate from the comfort of our own AC-cooled homes. We also highly encourage the use of alternative means of power while participating in order to increase one's own skills in emergency communications.

Also, if you find yourselves in a lengthy conversation, please be considerate of others participating in Radios At Home and please QSY to another frequency. The use of multiple frequencies is also an important emergency communications skill that we also hope to encourage during this event.

Overall, the most important thing is to have fun!

Hope to hear you on the air tomorrow!
