Re: FT-8 on the Q900
I have the exact same problem in WSJT. It's impossible for me to actually carry on a QSO because it's constantly losing connection in cat. Changing bands is erratic. I'm really discouraged by the way that the cat doesn't work. My next experiment will be to use the serial port on the back labeled REM. I'm curious if that will work any better because so far it's just been a total disaster for me.

Re: HOW to use DMR with the Q900 or even program it?
开云体育
Rick,
This is what I did:
Ignore the Part 2 and Part 3 of the .tar files (GHTerminal).
The normal programming software is called GHTerminal and doesn't need to be installed,
just run the standalone .exe file and use whatever directory as a repository to store the file output (JSONs).
You can download 'GHTerminal PART1.rar' which is the only part of
the 3 parts you need (I think). The?QSerialTerminal.exe file is in the part 1 of the .tar files and some Windows machines don't let you see it. That is actually the GHTerminal software that you use to program the 0-99 channels of your PMR-171 or Q900 radio.
It works okay - just okay - it includes DMR programming in each channel if you like. Nick (N3CNO) filed an issue with Chirp to have the Q900/PMR-171 radio series included in Chirp. It would be very easy because GHTerminal outp[uts in a .json format. It would
be terribly easy.?
BTW, the Version 4 of the Q900 (including the awesome PMR-171) is
waaaaaayyyyy better than the Version 3 radio.

Hello, I did a quick look through the group using DMR in the search filed. But didt find much
I have a version 4 q900 with the DMR module, How do you even program this with the Q900? is there software? I saw a reference of the Q900 software site, but that 3-part RAR file is a mess and no executable in fact part 2 of the RAR contains nothing. I saw reference CHIP, but I don't think the eQ900 is supported or even how would one connect it to the radio for programming? On the channel programing note, what are folks using to just plain ole program the radio, for repeaters, etc. I managed to get a couple in manually through the front panel, but what a PITA. any recommendation would be greatly appreciated/ Rick? 开云体育To the best of my knowledge, there is a software that Guohe gave us that can program all channel’s on the Q900/119.?The software allows you to program the radio in all modes available on the radio. It’s called GH terminal. It is on the WhatsApp channel saved under documents.? Sincerely, Brian On Sep 6, 2023, at 18:04, Rick N8SDR <n8sdr@...> wrote:

Re: Why I like my q900
Rick N8SDR
Let's not get to overly excited here the internal tuner is functional, yes, however its ability to tune a decent ratio is not much.
Test here if you're under a 2.4 or perhaps a 2.5:1 the tuner will work and drop it. I however your antenna is without a tuner higher then 2.5:1 well better fix it first before depending on the internal tuner in the Q900 it has a VERY LIMITED RANGE! |

I need more time to test this. However, I found that using MSHV that did not have disconnects like I did with WSJTX and JTDx.
I used MSHV for almost 3 hours and never once got it disconnect. Use the 817 and the comport settings like I did in the other two versions of software and the radio's q900 input and output and the audio section of MSHV. Then all was good Not sure why MSHV stays connected, however it doesn't bother me because I prefer MSHV and have used it for years over JTDX and WSJTX. Used it with many other SDR transceivers and MSHV has been my preference. I would be curious if others could try MSHV and see if it stays connected and this is not just a one-off that happened with me.? Rick N8SDR? |

Amplified microphone project for the Q900
Since the Q900 has problem with modulation especially on FM, I looked for an amplified mic. The procomm mic that works well with, is not sold in Germany or many other countries. The mics I found where expensive.? |

开云体育I simply added an SMA antenna from an old home router. That did the job. The antenna is receiving signal only so it will be very easy to add.?Sincerely, Brian On Aug 25, 2023, at 14:16, Chris Groman <cgroman@...> wrote:

Recommended GPS Antenna for Q900 (v4)
I purchased a Quohetec Q900 v4 with all modules (GPS, DMR? and Compass). When I received it, it didn't have a GPS antenna. I contacted the seller and they responded that the Q900 with GPS module is no longer includes a GPS antenna. The manual simply states that it should be an "active" antenna. Seaching Amazon I see many active GPS antennas with a SMA connector. They all seem to require 3-5 volts.
So far I haven't been able to obtain any information regarding what GPS antenna specifications are required. Does anyone have a GPS antenna that works properly on a Q900 v4 or what antenna would be recommended. Chris - KE8VOD |
FT-8 on the Q900
When running FT-8 or JS8-Call, my CAT control periodically disconnects.? Usually a "retry" or toggling of IFG in the RF menu reconnects.? I'm pretty sure my Windows 11 laptop setup is good, and I'm using a high quality, "IF certified" USB cable with chokes at either end.? I'm keeping the radio 3' from the laptop.? Anyone else have a similar issue, or thoughts on a solution?

Nick,
I added to your Chirp request the following blurb:
"I also think this radio needs Chirp support. It is an all mode SDR that transmits from 1-74MHz with an internal tuner and 74-1.2GHz or 74-2GHz depending on the model (version 1,2,3,or 4). It also has optional modules like DMR , GPS, Compass, and LoRa. Link
to main radio page:
The Guohetec Q900 programming software and images (saved as JSONs) are all compatible with the following radios (there may be more, because it is all basically the same hardware packaged and sold under different names:
The normal programming software is called GHTerminal and doesn't need to be installed, just run the standalone .exe file and use whatever directory as a repository to store the file output (JSONs).
You can also download all the manuals, software (lots of companion apps), and the firmware from that site. The Bluetooth controller Android app works surprising well."

For everyone’s awareness,
I’ve been underwhelmed by GHterminal as a programming tool, therefore filed a ticket to have it supported by CHIRP. If you support this idea, please let them know. ?Would love to have good software support for this radio. Thank you, Nick? |
