Re: Gen 4 released

Hello,

I have blown the finals on HF doing FT8 at full power. I don't think it was a SWR issue and anyway the RD16HHF1 can accept a 20:1 SWR for any amount of time without breaking?it also I had the SWR protection engaged at 2:1. I'd rather blame it to the poor thermal dissipation. The finals are attached to the drawer body without thermal paste and the ridiculously small fans just blow a little of air over the ATU section. This thing is not designed for 20W continuous work so beware of FT8 at full power. I managed to repair the finals but this is not an easy task more because you have to lift the top circuit disconnecting delicate riboon cables that are a pain to put back. Beware of fake transistors although I managed to find real ones on AliExpress moreover coming from the same batch so perfectly paired. Real ones have some little triangular shapes between the legs.

Probably sell it.? But I am using it successfully for in satellite operations using HRD for frequency control.? The split antenna situation is actually a benefit as I have an LNA on the mast for 432 that feeds the receiver and I don’t need any fancy switching.? And the QR 20 once I repair it I will probably sell. ?
