The Opportunity

Join the Forefront of Pacific Research and Innovation!

We are seeking a passionate and visionary leader to join the University of the South Pacific (USP) as Director of Research and Innovation. This role will oversee the strategic direction and operations of the Research Office, driving innovation and excellence across the institution.

This position is multifaceted and is an important link in enhancing our strategic goal of strengthening the University as the Pacific and International Hub for Research and Innovation.

As Director of Research and Innovation, you will lead the development of a vibrant and integrated research environment, fostering interdisciplinary excellence and collaboration. Your leadership will be instrumental in enhancing research quality and quantity, promoting interdisciplinary initiatives, and forging partnerships with key stakeholders, including the Pacific Islands Universities Research Network (PIURN), other universities, industry leaders, funding agencies, and governmental bodies.

The Person we Seek

We are looking for an inspirational leader with a deep understanding of the research and innovation landscape. To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

·?????? A undergraduate and postgraduate qualification in development or related areas, innovation, management with 10 years relevant experience.?Preference will be given to PhD qualification.

·?????? Strong understanding of digital technologies, including research databases;

·?????? Good strategic knowledge, able to contribute insightfully to the business planning and development processes;

·?????? Strong analytical and business skills to support strategic plan priorities and business intelligence

·?????? Manage and support grant funding and writing activities for USP researchers.

·?????? Minimum of 5 years of experience in research management, technology commercialization, or innovation strategy, preferably in an academic setting;

·?????? Demonstrated ability to secure and manage research funding and resources.

·?????? Strong project management skills, with a proven track record of leading successful interdisciplinary projects;

·?????? Exceptional stakeholder relationship building skills;

·?????? Effective leadership skills and ability to empower teams;

·?????? Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with a broad range of people at all levels

·?????? Experience and appreciation of working with culturally diverse stakeholders. Working with regional stakeholders will be an advantage.

·?????? Preference will be given to applicants with:?Work Experience in the Pacific regional countries at a tertiary institution level and has worked with diverse people and cultures.

Salary Range
