THE KIWA INITIATIVE LOCAL PROJECTS COMPONENT

The Kiwa Initiative funded by AFD, the European Union, Canada, Australia and New-Zealand and regional/national partners (IUCN, SPREP and SPC). IUCN Oceania Regional Office (IUCN ORO managed the Liwa Local Projects Component with the objective is to enhance access to funding for rights-based gender-sensitive and socially-inclusive climate change adaptation through nature-based solutions. It targets local and national authorities, regional and civil society organisations aims to strengthen the resilience of Pacific countries and territories¡¯ ecosystems, economies and communities by setting up a dedicated one-stop-shop for funding projects that promote Nature-based Solutions (NbS). NbS are ¡°actions to protect, sustainably manage and restore natural or modified ecosystems that address societal challenges effectively and adaptively.¡±

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY

The Kiwa Initiative Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) Officer will undertake day-to-day implementation of the Kiwa Initiative ESMS Action Plan as outlined in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and AFD Finance Agreement and related updated versions as the focal point on behalf of the Kiwa Initiative team. To ensure sufficient resources are available, management systems in place, applicable standards are adhered to, due diligence conducted, monitoring and reporting for Kiwa Initiative ESMS component.

Candidates should have a university degree in the field of Social Sciences, Gender, Human Rights and/or Development Studies ideally including modules regarding Natural Resource Management.

A relevant master¡¯s degree is an added advantage.
