UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH PACIFIC VACANCIES

Fellow

The appointee will teach in the Professional Diploma in Legal Practice
Programme - an intensive sixmonth
programme designed to prepare students for admission to legal practice
jurisdictions of the USP
member countries. The successful candidate will also be required to
conduct research, undertake
consultancies, teach in the continuing Legal Education programmes and
produce materials for legal training.
The position involves the teaching of skills in Business Law, Trust
Accounts Civil Procedure, Family Law
and Negotiation.
Applicants must have good Bachelor's degree in Laws; good Postgraduate
Law Qualification and substantial
legal practice experience.
Preference will be given to applicants with general practical experience
in litigation law and prior teaching
experience. Computer literacy is desirable. Experience in the USP region
an advantage.

The position is available for a period of three years and may be renewed
by mutual agreement.
Salary Range: Senior Lecturer F$48 489 to F$55 948 per annum
Lecturer F$35 434 to F$46 623 per annum
(Inclusive of 15% Gratuity)
In addition to the above benefits, the University contributes 10% of
salary to an approved superannuation
scheme, provides airfare and relocation costs where appropriate and
substantially subsidises housing for
eligible candidates.

Fellow in Legislative Drafting
Ref. FJL014
The appointee will introduce the students in a progressive manner to the
legislative drafting process,
within the 30-week distance learning programme designed for both
trainees and seasoned drafters
interested in acquiring knowledge in the art and science of legislative
drafting. The programme is taught
using printed materials and texts, audio transmission and video
conferencing. The appointee will also
conduct research and undertake consultancies in the USP region.
Conducting Continuing Legal Education
and producing legal training materials may also be involved. The
successful candidate should be prepared
to travel in the region to conduct workshops.
Applicants must have a good Bachelor`s degree in Laws and postgraduate
law qualification. They must
also have extensive experience as a legislative drafter.
Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience in
legislative drafting. Computer
literacy is desirable and experience in the USP region would be a
distinct advantage.

Senior Lecturer in Electrical Engineering

The Department of Engineering offers BETech programme with
specialisation in Electrical/Electronic
Engineering and Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering. The appointee will
be required to initiate
research in appropriate fields; participate in the development of the
departments postgraduate
programmes; and carry out consultancy.
Applicants must have a higher degree, preferably a PhD in the relevant
field; good tertiary teaching
experience in electrical power systems, electrical machines and
electrical engineering design including
lighting system and electrical installations design, and electrical
circuits; CAD experience; and a good
research and publication record.
Preference will be given to applicants with membership of a professional
institution.
