seeking a Pacific Seacraft 31
Hello All, For the last 14 years or so, we've been cruising about Maine in our Westsail 43. We love all 40,000 pounds of her, but it's time for us to downsize. I've done a lot of sailing, done the pond, sailed for years in Europe and Croatia, and know what I'm looking for. While I feel strongly that the PC 31 is the perfect fit, I have never been aboard one - so I would not feel confident making an offer and travelling a great distance to see a particular boat being offered for sale. My question is, does anyone know of a PC 31 somewhere in New England, or even as far south as PA, whose owner might be agreeable to let us see theirs? We are fully vaccinated and extraordinarily cautious re Covid. Thanks in advance for any help. Randy

HULL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER: HIN
Found a great web site to check Hull Identification Numbers, just enter your HIN number! https://www.marinetitle.com/library/hull-identification-number.aspx New Format Mandatory - August 1, 1984 Manufacturers Identification Code Production or Serial Number *Month of Production Year of Production Model Year ABC 12345 A 7 88 * A - January D - April G - July J - October B - February E - May H - August K - November C - March F - June I - September L - December Straight Year Format November 1, 1972 Manufacturers Identification Code Production or Serial Number Month of Production Year of Production ABC 12345 12 75 Model Year Format Optional - November 1, 1972 Manufacturers Identification Code Production or Serial Number Indicates Model Year Format Model Year *Production Month ABC 12345 M 75 A * A - August D - November G - February J - May B - September E - December H - March K - June C - October F - January I - April L - July Note: The letters "I", "O", and "Q" are forbidden in the Production or Serial Number In addition to the above formats, you may encounter those which are preceded by country codes such as "US" for the United states, "CN" for Canada, and "FR" for France. This means that the vessel was built for consumption in that respective country. You may also find hull numbers on two separate lines. In this case the second line is not typically considered as part of the hull number. State assigned hull numbers are not always consistent with federal standards.

The purpose of this site is to stimulate conversations between owners and admirers of the Pacific Seacraft 31, by William Crealock. I have paid for the first month premium for additional features of photos, database, files, polls, etc. Not seeing any participation, so hopefully we can get some conversation going, photos, and database info published. PSC 31 HULL #34

Andy Reeve. I have owned my 31 for around 6 years. Have traveled as far north as lake Ontario and south to the Bahamas. Presently hauled out for the winter in Southold NY on eastern Long Island. I have continuously updated equipment on the boat. I spent the winter of 2018 at the Pacific Seacrest factory in North Carolina getting a lot of work done. Love the boat. My wife and I plan to head north next spring to cruise the maine coast.

Staysail Furling Systems
Contemplating converting hanked on staysail to furling system. I am currently using a Wichard quick release lever with a hanked on 100% staysail - doused into foredeck bag. Wondering if anyone has converted to Seldon CX series furling system? I currently do not have an Asymmetrical Spinnaker, so also thinking the Seldon CX could be utilized with multiple sails. ROCNA Anchors
2
As part of my 5 year refit plan, I have installed a manual windlass: I acquired a new, old stock, Simpson Lawrence High Speed windlass with a RCA 60 gypsy - which supports rope to chain. I am planning on installing 5/16 HT chain, but have not decided how much chain to go with. I like the idea of perhaps 100 foot of chain and another 250 foot of 3 strand rode. Intuition came equipped with a knock off CQR anchor made by Forest. It has worked OK thus far. I have planned to install a second anchor. Looking at a ROCNA: comes in two styles, the original and the Vulcan. But wondering if it will be a good fit on the Pacific Seacraft 31 bow sprite? So, any feedback on size and fit would be appreciated! Daryl Clark s/y Intuition - PSC 31 #54

Owner Introductions
Greetings Pacific Seacraft 31 Owners and Admirers. I have created this group in the hope that we can share information; have technical and other discussions, much like I have experienced with ownership of my previous Pacific Seacraft sailing vessels: s/y *Jackito* - *Dana #222* , built in 1997; and s/y *Ballo Liscio - Flicka #433,* also built in 1997. I am currently sailing a 1 *990 Pacific Seacraft Crealock 31 - s/y Intuition #54.* My home port is the Port Superior Marina in Bayfield, Wisconsin - on the Great Inland Sea of Lake Superior. I found s/y Intuition in San Diego during the spring of 2017. I had been searching for a Pacific Seacraft 31 for several years. Intuition had been on and off the market several times before she was listed at a price I felt compelled to investigate; then survey and ultimately purchase. Intuition took the freeway route to Barkers Island Marina in Superior Wisconsin for her refit and launch! Intuition was much like she came from the factory I believe: electronics consisted of a VHF, analog depth , knot log and Autohelm autopilot (not working). She has the original Merriman wheel steering system with compass. Standing rigging, running rigging and sail inventory were the original: and were promptly tossed in the dumpster! I commissioned the Pacific Seacraft factory to build new standing rigging and a new companionway fiberglass hatch (as the original had rotted underneath the sea hood). New sails were commissioned through Ulman sail loft in Virginia. Since purchase, I have been slowly learning and modifying s/y Intuition's systems and getting her fit for sailing the inland sea. She is a superb sailing vessel: comfortable and sea worthy. I feel fortunate to own her! Here are some of the tasks completed during the last four sailing seasons: * Stripped hardware from mast, rewired VHF cable /Metz antenna and electrical for anchor light, foredeck light, windspeed indicator. Mast was prepped and painted, then hardware reinstalled. * Replaced Delrin bearings and packing gland on rudder. * Bottom paint - Micron CSC * Installed Smart Plug A/C system and rewired to electrical panel. * Repaired and re-bedded mast step. * Installed 1.25 inch pedestal guard to enable installation of navigation pod for chart plotter. * Installed Raymarine Axiom chart plotter; NMEA 2000 compliant Seatalk NG bus. * Installed Raymarine EV100 wheel pilot system with P70 Display at pedestal. * Installed ICOM 506 VHF with AIS receiver - integrated into Sealtalk NG bus. * Mast track and Forespar LC 10-18 whisker pole. * New staysail forestay with Wichard quick release lever. * Replaced some of the interior reading lights with Alpenglow LED lamps. * Replaced chart table light with Alpenglow LED chart lamp. * Installed Mastervolt 20A battery charger. * Built battery cage and installed (2) Lifeline 31 AGM batteries. * Installed Port Townsend lazy jack system (with control lines). * Built new mainsail cover and foredeck sail bag. * Installed new Spinlock triple rope clutches port and starboard. * Installed Lewmar ST16 winches port and starboard. * Installed Lewmar #8 single speed winches port and starboard with bronze cleats. * Installed Isotherm 3251 SP refrigeration. (Dry locker next to ice box and SP thru hull replaced in head sink) * Installed speed seal on raw water pump. * Replaced all raw water intake and exhaust raw hoses. * Replace life lines. * Replaced Yanmar engine mounts. * Custom dodger * Installed 8 inch inspection ports for forward and aft water tanks. * Replaced fuel lines; fuel shutoff and fuel tank gauge. Looking forward to hearing about your sailing vessel; plans, advice and solutions! Regards, Daryl Clark s/y Intuition - PSC 31 #54
