Going to the Gamblers Run, a two way (50m each way) highway race that is down by Elko that weekend. The weekend before doing the Virginia City Hillclimb, if the one at Bogus Basin goes ok. It would be fun to do some drag racing, though I don't know how, really. I had my entry in for the Elko event for a long time, though so the drags are out. I don't think I hit redline, though the radar says I was going 170.3mph at the Big Bend event. Must have been a temporary tail wind when I was on course. Don Hanson BTW There is an SCCA autocross this Sunday at PIR, register and run check for sure on the Oregon Region SCCA webpage. Shark Drag Nicknames
Adam Birnbaum
Okay, this could be really geeky, but I think it could be a lot of fun.
I want to put nicknames on the backs of the Shark Drags T-shirts. Below is what I have come up with so far. I need help on a couple of names, my own included. The people with *'s are "maybe's" that haven't yet committed to race, but haven't told me to go jump in a lake either, or whom I haven't heard a response from but showed an interest at the dyno day. If anyone is not happy with their nickname, wants to change their nickname, or have no nickname on your shirt, let me know. I don't mean to offend anyone, there are no hidden connotations, I'm just trying inject some humor. Okay, here it goes: Louie "The Professor" Ott - Self explanatory, right? Terry "The Enforcer" Redinger - Terry's a big guy, I'm glad he's my friend Tom "Mongoose" Middleton - Tom is a true enthusiast, and has the racing spirit Rob "Dolby" Fossett - Rob is a car audio god Curt "Beta" Nichols - works with computers, plus Beta is a fighting fish Chris "Spitfire" Ford - its a British thing Lloyd "The Prophet" Johnson - Lloyd has an introspective demeanor and a long ponytail, kind of reminds me of a modern day prophet. Adam " " Birnbaum - help me guys, don't rip on me too badly! Phil " " Wilson - Phil is new to the group, so be kind. * Andy "Thrasher" Pope - Name just fits. His Car in for repairs, may not be ready * Nick "Goose" Daffern - Nick's a commercial pilot, doesn't know his schedule for June yet * Mark " " Rosenfield - Mark's in the restaurant biz, no response yet * Ray " " Henson - Ray does crime scene testing and investigation, he hasn't committed yet, but I'm supposed to talk with him tomorrow. I think you can get a feel where I'm going with this. Let me know if this is a good or a bad idea. -Adam Birnbaum '88 S4 A/T |
OK here goes ....

I am going for 14.5 & 100mph, that Euro gearing should be good for
something. Last time I spoke to Louie he was having trouble getting power to the ground, something about wheels wanting to go vertical into the wheel wells so maybe i'll get in front for 2 yards before all I see are tail pipes !!! So Don whats your excuse for not making it ?, it would be fun to see you and Louie at the lights. Not many people complain about redlining in 5th (off the Dyno that is), green and envy come to mind. We did this on the Pac NW Dyno Day, and it worked out well. At the dyno day, everyone had to guess what their HP/torque readings would be. If everyone wants to send me an E.T./Top speed figure, we can go for it again. -Adam Birnbaum '88 S4 A/T |
Car hauler?
Hi All,
Say, does anyone around here have access to a car hauler that I could rent to get my wrecked 88 back up here from Deveks? Then, when Marc finally gets all the stuff for my new motor, I could haul the GT down in the trailer and come back with the wrecked one, then fly back down and drive my--Look out, Louis--hot rod back. Time frame is sometime near the end of the month/first of next month (I hope) Soon after that, I will have a bunch of good parts from that car to dispose of to good homes. Keep dry, Don Hanson |
Good job Tom

passwords and decoder rings
Hi everyone,
You should have recieved a password at the bottom of your first message from the list. If for some reason you did not, you will have to go to and enter your e-mail address and select "email my password to me". This should resend your temporary password to your email box and then you can access the web portion of the list. On the subject of decoder rings, Im working on that too.....just about 400 more boxes of Cracker Jacks to go through ;-)... Later, Tom midlman@... |

Subscription Options
Hi fellow listers,
This is a quick note to those concerned with being overwhelmed by the volume of emails from this list. First, I don't think there will be too much traffic on this list (probably similar in volume to the 928 Owners Club list) and I expect about a max of 5 or so messages per day. In any event, there are several options available to you. Use the password supplied in the first email to access your account at the web site (). Once you are at "your" egroup home page, it will show the lists you are subscribed to. Option 1) select digest mode to deliver one message per day with all the messages for that day in one email. Option 2) Select Web based access. This will stop the emails but you still remain subscribed to the list and can read/write messages from your egroup "home" page. Option 3) You can always unsubscribe and the re-subscribe at a later time. If anyone needs assistance in figuring out the options let me know, Thanks Tom |
