Re: Good day at ERTC - German Car Day
开云体育Thanks, Although the rub strip delete (started back in 06) is still
unfinished LOL.? Black hides the holes well :) .? I have decided to put the rub strips back on again since the car came with them in the first place and want to keep it as original as possible, even though I do prefer it without. Now to find the missing pieces in the garage after a couple of moves.
BTW, the XXX event at the end of the month has been moved from the XXX in Issaquah to Carillon Point in Kirkland.? Not sure why, but am guessing Burgermaster isn't quite ready to host events just yet.

Good day at ERTC - German Car Day
Jason and I represented at ERTC German Car day.? Beautiful weather and lots of great Porsches amongst other.? I got there early enough to make the Center Circle area.?? First for my? "10 footer" 928 that just rolled over 340,000km (approx 211,000 miles).? When he put a yellow tag under my windshield wiper I was sure I was being relegated to the back room, so imagine my surprise when he said, follow the Mansory RSQ8 Audi to the Center Circle. !! |
Re: 85S running again
I believe it was my fault. I had just had the lower end rebuilt and reinstalled it and that was when I noticed that it would vibrate when getting on the throttle. I had did what you did and replaced most of the ignition bits. Still vibrated. Rechecked the timing and that was when I found it. So a bit different than your sequence of events.

开云体育Did it slip a tooth at some point, or was it installed that way?Mine was running fine for years before the vibration started. Rob F. 253.209.8638 WPFC G12 Black WPFC G14 Navy GO PREMIER! One Club, One Mission! #alwayspremier On Jun 7, 2024, at 3:55 PM, Scurry via groups.io <drkekar@...> wrote:

85S running again
开云体育?Finally got mine back together and running, but I still have a issue. Took it for a drive and have a vibration when accelerating, the reason I took it apart in the first place.??I replaced plugs, plug wires, caps, rotors but something else is wrong. Backed it back into the garage and was going to check the new plugs to see if they are all firing, but the hood release handle popped off, the cable is not budging, so I can’t get the hood open.? ?I’ll dive in at some point this weekend to try to get the hood open and plugs checked out, but what are your thoughts?? ?Clearly a cylinder isn’t firing, could it be injectors? In the Wild
Was driving South on 104 and saw a Red 928 driving North. Not sure if it is someone on this list or not. Not to often that I see another 928 on the road in the wild.
In fact it has been a couple of decades in fat. Last one was in mid 2000's when I was at the Sharktober Fest. It was good to see one. David |
Re: Surging cold idle
Does this car have an oxygen sensor, or purely mechanical CIS? If the former, a bad ground (at the sensor or, more likely, at the feedback control unit) can mess with the accuracy of the feedback provided by the sensor, and have the frequency valve constantly overcompensating and oscillating back and forth rich/lean.

Re: Original WSM Documents
开云体育Hi Glenn, We have the originals as put together by Jim Morehouse and the rest of the interested parties on Rennlist. Often copied by other peeps for sale on eBay. They are pretty good copies. Jim donated them to the 928 community along with thousands of other documents. Happy to share a couple with you to see if they meet the standard you are looking for.

I have the things that have been floating around on the internet; probably from links I got on Rennlist, but they're not great. I think that a more modern copier would be able to get a scan of the whole sheet, instead of breaking it up over a couple of pages, like on the copies I have. Or worst case scenario, things are still broken up but at higher resolution and with text recognition. |

Re: Original WSM Documents
开云体育Hey Glenn, I want to make sure I am tracking. WSM's = the service manuals?? If so I have a set. I'm likely selling my car and was not going to pass them along to whomever the next owner is so you are welcome to use them. Seems like a worthwhile, if not arduous task :)? If you're willing to part with the sheets for a little bit, I'm happy to pay for shipping back and forth and, of course, will share what I get digitized. Cheers, Glenn |
Re: Original WSM Documents
开云体育If you get desperate, I've got them up here in Oly.? Can figure out a way to get them to you. Has this already been done (Rennlist)? or are you looking to get
better scans?

Does anyone in the Portland area have the original WSM documents that they'd let me borrow, so as to make new and improved scans of the wiring diagrams? I know this is sort of a big ask, but I'm willing to put in the time to get everything scanned and into an OCR'ed pdf. |
