Re: Door panels, switches, locks and such

Andrew:

Salmon Siver Metallic is extremely rare indeed. You should post a picture of your car on Rennbow for posterity ()?

As for refurbishing door cards, I have had really good results brushing on fiberglass epoxy resin and letting it soak into the particle board and then using cellophane wrap?+ boards + clamps to correct warping door cards. When the resin cures, the door cards will never warp again. I recommend brushing resign on the whole door card where the particle?board is present. There is no need to remove the upper leather/vinyl part, but I do recommend removing the carpet.?The resin is especially good at strengthening the fiberboard around the retaining clip holes. You can repair any damage using a couple of pieces of fiberglass as well. ?FYI the carpet can be cleaned and washed in the washing machine, or just replace it with a new piece of Sliverknit and contact cement.?

Pierre, do some searching on rennlist there a re plenty or R&R writeups on this topic

Hello dear 928ers.? I hope everyone is happy and well.

The image that Michael Benno attached reminded me that I have to replace the part #44 from the image.? Exterior door handle is inoperable.??

Does anyone have a step by step repair with pictures to follow?

Thank you in advance and stay well dear friends.

Pierre?

Thanks, Michael. That really was a simple fix, and I feel a bit foolish for missing the hex bolt behind the grommet in the door jam. My '89 is Salmon Silver Metallic (81 K paint code). I had the paint "refreshed" about 10 years ago now. IMO it's a close cousin to Cassis Rot (which is gorgeous), just a bit more muted. It's gotta be pretty rare too as googling it doesn't return many that look like mine.

Really appreciate the guidance on what to look for before replacing the door card.?
