Hi Jim,
I thought I could flush out you MOPAR guys with that post, Funny thing,
after several searches on the web for information, I came up with two good
hits, one being that link and the other basically reposting the same info
in a different format???? You must be right about those mopar guys,,,,
whats even funnier is the fact that several other links mention drag racing
the Neon 145hp. Now that would be a sight ;-0..
I always thought the pic on the RENNLIST (the racing 996) kinda looked like
a Neon from the front.
Later,
Tom

Good call whoever it was who found this, always, always
trust the Mopar guys because they live drag racing!
A very wise man once said:
"Horsepower is the quotient of torque versus RPM"
See he didn't know either.
I've never heard an explanation of HP which I've fully
understood, but I know it's related to inertia and the
ability to maintain the RATE of acceleration; in our
case at an engine's crankshaft.
I know what it does just can't put it into words, but,
like the old Hemi ads from the '60's say:
"It's gotta be voodoo baby!"
Anyway the article at the above URL really clears up
the when to shift debate IMO.
