Apprentice contracts
8
Dear Listers, I have a hunch that my Alexander Klingmann, probably residing in Berks about 1745-1752, may have been apprenticed to Johannes Ehrenhardt in Bucks. Are any apprentice contracts or agreements ever found in Pennsylvania? (I found one I was looking for in North Carolina.) I can't find a group.io for Bucks genealogy. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. John George Bechtel - immigration
2
John George Bechtel (c1715 - c1750) is my immigrant ancestor. born in Germany. In Hanover Twp. in 1745. Most bios & trees report that he immigrated in 1743 on ship Robert & Alice. I suspect he immigrated in 1737 on ship William. First records I have found for him are in 1745: 1) purchase of property in Amity Twp.; 2) baptism of daughter at New Hanover Lutheran Church. Anyone have a record(s) for John George, prior to 1745? Or know where to look for any record? Sharon

I would happy to share & exchange info with anyone else researching this Bechtel line. I am interested in several pieces of info: father of Lovina who married Andrew Bechtel (1853). Marriage date of Charles/Carl Bechtel to Isabella Jack. Birth date of William. Marriage date of William to Mary Richards (c1799). Death date of Mary (Richards) Bechtel. Marriage date of George to Hannah Yocum (c1764). Birth & death & marriage date for John George & Anna Maria (Klingman).

Bechtel - Kerlin connections
2
Do any of you know anything about the following Bechtel/Kerlin connection.: The 1911 obituary of her brother Kerlin Baker Sellers implies that his sister, Elizabeth, is dead. Elisabeth (b. 1808) was married to George Bechtel based on the marriage record (m 10 Feb 1835 Stouchsburg, records of Christ Lutheran) and references to the estate of George Bechtel in the estate documents of Elizabeth and Kerlin’s father, Frederick Sellers. At the time of the final distribution of Frederick’s estate after widow Ellen had died in 1873, a claim against the estate was made by Franklin Smith, administrator of the estate of George Bectle [sic], deceased, for board and room expense ($27.05) and interest ($6.34), presumably for the widow, Ellen, for her care after Frederick d. in 1864. I have been unable to identify any appropriate George Bechtel whose wife is named Elizabeth on the 1860 census. Does anyone have this information? What happened to George Bechtel? If he died, did Elizabeth marry again? My primary interest is in the Sellers family. Judy Castle Stubbs

Bechtel reply to Sharon

Bechtel reply to Sharon The dates for my George Bechtel are so close for a 1744 marriage, that I am sharing this for consideration. Do you have any dates for George? I have a Mary Klingman born to Jorg Philip Klingman b 1710. So she would be born about the time of the marriage you mention and not a possible wife. In exploring my Bechtel I have this couple and wonder if there was a second spouse and Kolb being the second spouse. Has anyone confirmation of Anna Maria Kolb m George Bechtel? George Meyer Bechtel Bishop 1698–1759 BIRTH 1698 ? Mannheim, Rhineland-Palatinate, German States DEATH 19 MAR 1759 ? SMITH - SMALL - KNELL - HEISLER Family Photograph
I have an old postcard photograph identified as Jay SMITH, son of Raleigh M. SMITH which was likely taken some time between 1907 and 1912. There is no studio or location identified and the photograph is taken outdoors on a donkey with Jay likely just a couple years old at the time. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Jay and his family: Jay Monroe SMITH was b. 17 Jun 1909 in Pottsville, PA to Raleigh SMITH (b. 1887) and Helen Pauline SMALL (1877-1943) who were married in Pottsville, PA on 5 Sept 1908. It appears that his parents divorced, and his mother married William John KNELL (1886-1941) and Jay’s name was changed from SMITH to KNELL. Jay married Marian H. HEISLER (1914-1999) on 25 Dec 1942 in Pottsville, PA and he died in Jan 1978 in Pottsville, PA and is buried in the Charles Baber Cemetery in Pottsville, PA. Raleigh M. SMITH was b. 31 Mar 1886 in Dayton, OH or Schuylkill Co., PA to parents Clarence E. SMITH (b. 1859 or 1860) and Anna J. HAYTH or HOYTH (b. 1861 or 1862). Raleigh had one sibling, a sister Bertha J. SMITH WAGNER b. 1896. It appears that he was only married the one time and only had the one child, Jay. I am hoping to get this precious old photograph back to family and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be. Thanks, Shelley

Edwards, Chalmer, McMeeking (Mcmeekin) and Park families of New Luce
I am looking for information on the above families. I have quite a bit of inflammation on the McMeekin (New Luce) and Chalmers (Linwood and Paisley) Families. I have found these two families in the records of Scotland. I have some on the Park family from New Luce. My problem is the Edwards family. John Edwards (b:1827 in Scotland - 1874) married Margaret Chalmers (1826- 1873 ) in New Jersey US about 1855. The Margaret arrived in the New York on Sep 20, 1853 with several of her siblings. There is an unknown John Edwards who arrived in New York on Aug 29, 1853 and is listed as a blacksmith. While John Edwards who married Margaret Chalmers and moved to Chicago is listed as a black smith in the 1860 and subsequent US Census for Chicago, the occupation is the only link between the two. I have Undocumented information that John was from Paisley. There is a monograph on the Chalmers family in the book "Biographical and genealogical history of the city of Newark and Essex County, New Jersey" and is the only link I have between the family in New Jersey and Chicago. Would like any information on any of the above families, especially that which connected John Edwards to a location in Scotland.

KRIEBEL - SCHULTZ Family Photograph
I've recovered an old photograph album from the late 1800's including faculty and students from Oberlin College which includes a photograph of Oscar KRIEBEL. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's or 1890's with Oscar likely in his 20's or 30’s at the time it was taken. Most of the photographs, like this one was taken by the Pfeifer Studio from Columbus, OH who probably came to take all the photographs at the Oberlin campus. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Oscar and his family: Oscar Schultz KRIEBEL was b. 10 Sept 1863 in Hereford, PA to parents Andrew Schultz KRIEBEL (1835-1876) and Christiana SCHULTZ (1840-1906). Oscar had two siblings including Allen Schultz KRIEBEL (1861-1950) and Mary Alice KRIEBEL (b. 1865). Oscar married Corinne “Connie” M. MILLER (1865-1944) on 30 Jun 1891 in Erie Co., OH and they had three children including Frieda K.; Mary Miller; and Louisa Ellison KRIEBEL, all born between 1892 and 1894. Oscar was the principal of Perkiomen School and a pastor of the Palm Schwenkfelder Church. Oscar died 16 or 17 Feb 1932 in Philadelphia, PA and is buried in the Palm Schwenkfelder Church Cemetery in Palm, PA. I would like to get the photograph to a family member and would appreciate you reaching out to me if you are member of this family or know someone who might be. Thanks, Shelley
