Sharon, I'm very interested in the Klingman(n) family you mention. My Catharine is spelled with a K and other variations.

I'm trying to find Pennsylvania information about the Georg Klingmann and wife Anna Katharine on the ship Samuel landing in Philadelphia in 1732. They had a son Peter on the passenger list, and a son Alexander who is not on the passenger list, evidently because no? child under 3 years is on the list. He just doesn't show up in anything I find in Pennsylvania, but marries and has a large family in North Carolina. Family lore meshes nicely with the time for the ship's arrival.

I found a Clingman book online, but it has some incorrect information in it, so I don't know if I can rely on anything.??For example, it says that Hans is not a name, but something to do with the Hanseatic League. That may be true in some German-speaking regions, but not everywhere.?

There is info about a Georg who mentions a wife Catharina Barbara in his will, and I think Anna Cath. may have died an he married again. My Anna Cath. was born 27 Oct 1700 in Wieblingen, Heidelberg. Her maiden name was Frey. Georg was born about 1690-1699 somewhere in Baden, probably near Heidelberg or Mannheim.?

The book mentions so many men named Peter that it's impossible for me to sort them out. I do know that, of the two Klingmann couples on board, Anna Katharine and Georg are the parents of Peter and Alexander. The other couple is Yorich and Thoradea (Dorothea) and there is Pennsylvania information about them, sorted out because of her unusual name.?

I'd be happy to correspond about Klingmann's.

Dear Sharon,

Thank you for your informative message about Mary Anna/ Anna Maria Klingmann. I have looked through my notes, and I have found? (up to now) no Bernhard Klingmann in Germany. I have a Leonhardt, and the capital B in OGS is so similar to L that I could have misread that. So far I have been looking for a Johann George that could be the man who married Anna Catharine Frey(in) in Wieblingen, Heidelberg and immigrated in 1732. But I've been unable to find, with certainty, a boy's baptism who can be the man who married Frey. He has to have a brother Johann Peter. That would be the only way I could possibly prove that he is the son of the correct Johann Georg, mentioned on the marriage record of both Johann Georg Klingmann-Anna Catharina Frey and Johann Peter-Veronika Reich marriages.?

Bernhard would have been born around 1700 or earlier to have an adult daughter in 1745. The Leonhardt/Bernhardt I found married in 1704. I have really scrutinized it and now I think that it is a B because the OGS B has a little extra embellishment, and this name seems to have that little embellishment. I used to read OGS quite easily, but am very rusty. I thought I was all done with German research, then found Alexander Klingmann in an LDS index.

If Bernhard married in 1704 and had several children, Mary Anna could be among the younger children and an appropriate age to marry in 1745. I wish I could get the Pennsylvania and do some onsite research. I'll be 86 in a couple of weeks and it is out of the question.?

My companion has had complications from surgery and is in and out of the hospital almost weekly. I hope to get back to serious research when he gets better.

Thanks again,

Lila

Thank you for your info & insight into the Klingman family.? I have done almost no research on them so far.??
I certainly understand your issue concerning travel.? My husband is 70 & recently had a stroke which affected his left side mobility.? And a couple weeks ago, I had knee replacement surgery.? So, neither of us are currently driving anywhere.? ?Luckily, one of our sons has been driving us where we need to go.??
Happy Labor Day!
Sharon

Lila

I am a Bechtel descendant. ?My great-grandmother was Ora Bechtel (1873-1903) who married Irvin Quigg. ?Ora was dau of Andrew (1832-1896); son of Charles/Carl (1806-1881); son of William (c1781-1854); son of George (1744-1818); son of John George (c1717-1750). ?

I would happy to share & exchange info with anyone else researching this Bechtel line. ?I am interested in several pieces of info: ?father of Lovina who married Andrew Bechtel (1853). ?Marriage date of Charles/Carl?Bechtel to Isabella Jack. ?Birth date of William. ?Marriage date of William to Mary Richards (c1799). ?Death date of Mary (Richards) Bechtel. ?Marriage date of George to Hannah Yocum (c1764). ?Birth & death & marriage date for John George & Anna Maria (Klingman).
