1802 Will of Michael Christ, Exeter, differentiates 2 diff Jacob Bechtel¡¯s, too:
Jacob, son of Peter Bechtel, married his daughter Maria Barbara Christ
Jacob, son of Jacob Bechtel, m his daughter Elizabeth Christ
They were all 4 still living when their mother Susanna (nee Bishop) Christ wrote her will in 5/1823, probated 4/1825, as she bequeathed each above couple 1 pound, in addition to her other children.
So there are 3 Jacobs since the last one who married 1800 to Maria Gherling could not be one of the above first 2 Jacobs.

I didn¡¯t have those marriages. And, seeing Barbara listed with surname CHRISTIAN and Elizabeth with CHRIST, we have another example of the name swap, or substitution, - remember from the will of Michael CHRIST that daughters Elizabeth and Barbara were both married to Jacob BECHTELs.
I sometimes get the feeling that various ministers didn¡¯t want to use the name ¡°CHRIST¡±, even though anglicized from KRIST, in any context apart from Christ himself and thought CHRISTIAN more appropriate for us mortals - the German for Christ is Christus, not KRIST. Hmmm ¡
